Film Evenings in Cooperation with F!F – Freunde Ingelheimer Filmkultur (Friends of Ingelheim Film Culture)
June 3: »Fräulein Stinnes fährt um die Welt« (Miss Stinnes Travels Around the World), D 2009 (Dir: Erika von Moeller)
Clärenore Stinnes (1901–1990), the daughter of an industrialist, took a new look at the world. She used two successful newcomers of the 20th century: the car and the film. Authentic recordings of her world trip (1927-29) in the Frankfurt Adler Standard 6 and the recreated story are told in the film. The question arises as to which images appear more truthful.
June 4: »Die Fotografin« (The Photographer), GB 2023 (Dir: Ellen Kuras)
From It-Girl to witness of the most important turning point in German history: It was never mere coincidence when Lee Miller appeared in the right place. The film tells the story of the legendary photographer as an emancipation drama of a strong-willed and instinctively confident woman, and follows classics of modern, “embedded” photojournalism.
June 5: »Alice in den Städten« (Alice in the Cities), D 1974 (Dir: Wim Wenders)
The history of painting and sculpture – dominated by men. The history of photography and film – dominated by men; but women are beginning to conquer their own perspective. But it takes a child to speak the truth. This child is Alice in Wenders’ early, poetic masterpiece.
Introductions: Prof. em. Thomas Meder
all film screenings begin at 6:30 PM; event room in the Kunstforum Ingelheim – Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall)

Lecture »Marianne Breslauers Reisebilder« (Marianne Breslauer’s Travel Pictures)
The »New Women« of the 1920s and 1930s traveled with fast cameras and often with their own car – »alone«, that is, in contemporary thinking, without male accompaniment. Erika Mann even did a mechanic apprenticeship for such adventures. The Berlin photographer Marianne Breslauer (1909–2001) also captured her travels of that time in extraordinary photographs. Extraordinary not only through motifs such as everyday life in Palestine or Spain, where she traveled with the Swiss writer Annemarie Schwarzenbach, but also through the unique, novel perspective of her photographic worldview.
Dr. Kirstin Buchinger is a curator, author and expert on German women photographers of the 1920s and 30s. Her 2024 publication on Breslauer’s travel photographs was created in close collaboration with Walter Feilchenfeldt, art dealer, author and son of Marianne Breslauer.

Immerse yourself in the fascinating life stories of impressive women.
Armin Strohmeyr, author of much-acclaimed biographies, portrait collections and novels, reads from his 2024 book Furchtlose Frauen und wie sie die Welt eroberten (Fearless Women and How They Conquered the World).
